Student FAQs

  • Can I open an account if I already have one at another bank?
Yes! Many students use JHFCU as their everyday account while keeping an existing bank account. You can transfer money between them easily.
  • How do I get my JHFCU debit card?
Once your checking account is open, you’ll receive a debit card. If you apply in person, you may be able to get it instantly! Otherwise, it will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days.
  • Why isn't my debit card working?
Your debit card pulls funds from your checking account, not your savings. Make sure you have enough money in your checking to cover purchases—this helps you avoid overdraft fees! You can easily transfer money from savings to checking using our app.
  • How do I send or receive a wire transfer?

While wire transfers can’t be completed through our mobile app, you can send them using Online Banking on a computer.

    • To send a wire transfer: Log in to Online Banking, go to Online Services > Wire Transfer, fill out the required fields, and submit your request.
    • To receive a wire transfer: Follow the instructions in the document below for domestic or international incoming wires.

    Receiving Wire Transfers

  • How do I transfer money between my JHFCU account and another bank?

You can send money from your JHFCU account to an external bank account using either our mobile app or Online Banking. To transfer money from another bank to JHFCU, you’ll need to initiate the transfer from that bank’s online platform using your JHFCU account and routing number.
