Even after students graduate from JHU, we hope that JHFCU is still prevalent in their lives. When you come back for Alumni Weekend, we hope that you will stop by our booth in the welcome tent and learn more about how we can help you meet your financial goals.
New Student Orientations and Student Move-In
When freshman move into their dorms for the first time, things can get a little overwhelming. JHFCU provides extended hours during Move-In weekend to alleviate some of the financial questions and concerns students and parents may have.
Parent sessions and Athletics Orientations
As parents of incoming freshman, we recognize that this is as much of a transition for you as it is your child. Let us take some of the stress away when it comes to their financial planning. Whether it be questions about student loans or how you can send them money, JHFCU is present at the JHU Parent Sessions and Athletic Orientations, giving you many forums to receive answers.
Our employees take giving back to their community very seriously. Not only do they spend their careers trying to help the Hopkins community reach their financial goals, but they spend their free time helping in other ways as well. Because of the overwhelming response of generosity from employees over the years, we have created the JHFCU Outreach Committee. From designing trees for Kennedy Krieger’s Festival of Trees to pre-packing lunches for students who can’t afford them, JHFCU’s Outreach Committee is dedicated to going the extra mile.
Throughout the year, JHFCU holds seminars free to our membership on basic budgeting. Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors and representatives from our debt management company, GreenPath, give insight and tips on how to create and stick to a budget.
First-Time Home Buying Seminar
If you are interested in purchasing your first home, JHFCU provides free informational seminars around the Hopkins campuses. The seminars include presentations from a local realtor, Smartmove, Live near You Work and Financial Security Consultants. If you are interested in attending a seminar, please look out for our next advertisement on the main page of our website.
United Way Events
Each year, Johns Hopkins Work Life and Engagement works diligently to run a successful campaign for the United Way and JHFCU is a major supporter of that. We sponsor their Annual Chili Cook-Off/Dessert Bake-Off and Basket Bingo, all proceeds of which go to the United Way.
Golf for Kid’s Tournament
Every July, JHFCU holds a charity golf tournament benefitting the Johns Hopkins Children Center. The Golf for Kid’s Tournament raises thousands of dollars in donations and sponsorships from members and vendors alike, all coming together to give back.
