Needed a small loan for an older vehicle. The representative explained that the car I was considering was too old to qualify for an auto loan but they could do a signature loan. They explained the difference, got my information, and within a few minutes I had a decision. They were extremely helpful and efficient on the phone. In less than an hour I had the necessary funds in my hands. It was even very close to closing time (on a Friday mind you!) and they offered to assist if the branch was closed. What great service! These things can be stressful and complicated... I felt none of that. Thank you for your kind assistance. Absolutely will consider JHFCU for any additional needs.

It was so easy! Everything happened via email, and the loan was approved and handled within a very short amount of time.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a credit union different from a bank?

Credit unions are member-owned. Unlike banks, where profits go to outside shareholders, credit unions are owned by the people who use them. When you deposit just $1 with us, you become a part-owner of the organization. Your account works just like a traditional bank account, but with one key difference: the benefits come back to you in the form of better rates, lower fees, and a stronger community connection.

What documents do I need to open my account?

Please have the following documents handy:

  1. Your Social Security or tax ID number
  2. Your government-issued ID (i.e. State-issued driver’s license/ID or US passport in English.)
  3. Proof of your current physical address may be required if the address on your government-issued ID is not current (i.e. Change of address card from the MVA [Maryland only], voter registration card, valid vehicle registration, recent utility bill*, valid (non-expired) lease agreement/addendum/renewal (to include tenant name(s), address, current lease period, signed by tenant(s) & landlord), recent mortgage statement, recent homeowner's/renter's/car insurance statement*, any piece of mail from another financial institution or government agency sent to the applicant's current address post-marked date within the past 30 days.

*Recent is defined as within the past 30 days

If you wish to apply for a loan, we may require proof of income, but let’s get your new JHCU account opened first.
