College Scholarship
Headed off to college or trade school in 2023? Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce a college scholarship opportunity for our student members! The Credit Union College Scholarship Program for 2023, offered through the Credit Union Foundation, is underway now!
Any credit union member entering their freshman through senior year of college or trade school may apply. Parental membership does not qualify an applicant; the student must be a member themselves (they are eligible to join as a family member if the parent is in our field of membership).
Our college-bound members are eligible to apply for one of ten $1,000 essay-based scholarships, one $1,000 video-based scholarship, and one $1,000 photo-based scholarship. And yes, you may apply in all three categories!
Essay Scholarship – More than two-thirds of people in America are not financially healthy. How would you define financial health? Describe how your credit union has helped you understand how to manage your money. (750 word maximum)
This year’s video topic: To be financially literate, or financially healthy, is to know how to manage your money. Show one lesson you’ve learned about managing your money.
Photographers are asked to capture an original photograph that represents the credit union core value of “Cooperation.”
Judges will be looking for a photo submission that is good enough to be used for lobby posters, so put some thought into your photo. It will take as much effort as those who submit essays and videos!
Click the “Learn More” button to see an example of the type of scholarship-winning photo our judges are looking for.
Your photo doesn’t have to be directly related to the financial services industry, but it does need to capture the year’s assigned theme.
Deadline for applications is April 15, 2023. Awards will be announced in June 2023.
