Closing Your Account

We say "Once, a member, always a member," but we know that sometimes circumstances arise which require you to close your account. Even if you leave Hopkins, you can keep your account - you are a member for life.

However, once your account is closed and you decide to reopen, you could be subject to a reopening fee ($30) and you would also need to requalify to open an account. Please make sure you have cancelled any bill payments, automatic debits or credits to your account, and that you do not have any checks that have not cleared from your account.

There are several ways to close an account at JHFCU:

All requests must provide the following:

  • Copy of a valid (not expired) government issued ID (State ID, Driver’s License, Passport)
  • An Account Closure Form
  • Verify the address we have on file (see below)

Address concerns

Please ensure the current address on your account is up to date. If you need to check to see what the address on your account is, look at your most current statement or log into your online banking. We will send a check with the remaining funds (including your initial membership deposit of $25) to the address that we have on file.

If your address needs to be updated:

You can change your address through online banking or you can fill out a Change of Personal Information form. This form can be found on our website under “Forms”. If you are unable to access information online, please call us at: (410) 534-4500 and we can mail or fax you a form. We do need an original signature on the form so we can only accept the form via mail or in person. We also require a copy of a valid (not expired) government issued ID (State ID, Driver’s License, Passport). If mailing the Change of Personal Information form, please mail the completed form to our Homewood Branch.
